Three-day, two-night, 26.6 mile loop trek in Shenandoah National Park with 30 year friend George Lamb, starting from the boundary of the park at Madison Run, up to the AT at Blackrock and down to the confluence of Jones Run and Doyles River (camp #1), then up Doyles River back to the AT and down into the big drainage of Big Run (camp #2) and back to the car via Rockytop and Austin Mt. Trails. Challenges: temps never broke low 50s (F), multiple fords of Big Run, huge crossings of talus fields, trail rarely level. Highlights: view from Furnace Mountain of the massive ridge of the park, Jones Run Waterfall, Lower and Upper Waterfalls on Doyles River, view from Blackrock summit (3092), purple and pink hued talus.
